Re: [MS_AccessPros] New environment for me

Hi Phil,

I would just try it to see what happens. I can't imagine there would be much difference between Access 2010 and 365. The only major difference between versions of Access that I recall were when the VBA window became a separate "app" window and then when the ribbon was implemented. All other new versions seemed simple.

You will want to make sure you keep your old/existing copy and immediately compile the code in the new environment.

Duane

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] New environment for me

Hi

I am very comfortable developing my systems in Access 2010.

I now have a user who tells me they have Access but it is part of Office 365 and they want me to transfer the database I have developed in 2010 to their server so that they can use it in their small (3or 4 computers) networked environment.

I have seen various articles about being able to migrate the database but I have no idea then if I would have to learn how to develop the database from then on in the new environment (which looks VERY different to what I am used to!)

My question is :-

Can I simply copy my 2010 developed front and back ends onto their server and provide access to the computers on their network so that when they use the system it looks and feels the same as it does using 2010 and indeed retains all the functionality I have already  built into it.

and can I then develop it further in their environment in the same way that I would if it was still on my 2010 version?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Phil
