[MS_AccessPros] Importing txt files

Hi all,

In a new application I'm working on I will need to import comma separated txt files on a monthly basis and append to a table.

Please can I ask for some pointers to the best methods for doing these things...

- checking that field headings in the txt file are in the same order as the destination table
- if not, can I import the data and have the code reorganise the data into the right destination fields, or do I need to give the user a warning so s/he can edit the txt file to reorganise the field order first?
- actually do the import - should I use the DoCmd method?
- append the source file name into a field in the table (against each imported record)
- append import date/time into the table (against each imported record)

Cheers
