[MS_AccessPros] Re: UNC vs mapped drive for linked tables

 

I never rely on mapped drives. Users can disconnect or change the mapping to another letter...Way too much overhead. UNC paths are much more reliable and speed isn't affected much as it was in the old days. When your front end opens make it connect to a table in the back end and leave the connection open. That will increase performance quite a bit. See the article at fmsinc
