[MS_AccessPros] Re: SQL Server Express as backend question

Jim - SQL Express can be installed on a server. I wouldn't share a database on your desktop. Performance over a network will be horrible.

Do you really need SQL Server for your database?

Hello all,

I have been playing with SQL Server express for awhile now. I even connected it to a personal task database I have been using for a decade. It took a long time to get everything to work on the forms and other things.

But I have a question that I asked someone at work and they said it probably could not be done.

So I have SQL Server Express installed on my desktop. Is there anyway to allow others access to the database? I do not think it should be done, but I was wondering if the database file is on a network drive would it work?

Thank you

Jim Wagner
