It sounds like you need
to dynamically build a filter in code and then use that
filter to check if it returns records, and then use it again
if there are records to open the edit form. You can find
lots of examples of how to do that in my sample databases on
my website.

I have a screen called
frmHohSearch
which has the
following unbound fields on

it:txtLastNametxtFirstNametxtPhonetxtSSNcmdNext

When in
use, the user will
fill out
one or all the fields and then click the cmdNext
button. I need to lookup in a table
called
tblHeadOfHousehold
(primary key HohID) by whatever criteria
that was entered on the frmHohSearch, if
a record is found I
need to
open a form called frmHoHDetails in edit mode with
the record found. If multiple records
are found I would like
to pop
a msg box listing the multiple values and probably
a
way to select the record
they want to edit.
If a record
was not found I need to open

the form frmHoHdetails in add mode.
Hope that makes
sense.
