That worked. the source of the report was table. I do not like that set up. so I created a query and added that as you said to the source

Hello all,
We run a report once a year and we are at that point. But I am getting a #Type! error on the report. I am concatenating several field from the source.
I have checked the names and spelling
I have deleted the text box and re-added the expression
If I put just one field it works correctly but not if I add the other fields
something is causing it to error out.
Here is the expression
=[First Name] & " " & [Last Name] & ", " & [Dept #]
what seems to be the issue here?
