I'm assuming that happens for all databases. If it were just one I'd say there is a hidden USysRibbon table that is controlling how it behaves.
Something must have altered the default actions on the Ribbon. I'd run a Repair on Office from the Control Panel. That should fix it.

Once you open a database the default should be Home. When you first open Access before choosing a database file to open the default should be the File tab. Is that what you see?

on on of my PCs the default Ribbon Tab is File - on the extreme left.
On all the others it's Home.
How can I change it back please.
