Re: [MSAccessProfessionals] Sorting and displaying men and women last names and maiden names

Hi Russ,
Based on the SQL view you posted, have you attempted to set the report's sorting to the SortName column? When you look at the datasheet view of this SQL are you seeing the expected values? If it isn't what you expect then you need to tell us what is wrong and provide some sample data.

If the SchNm is null/blank then the LastName will be used.

Regards,
Duane

Subject: Re: [MSAccessProfessionals] Sorting and displaying men and women last names and maiden names

Duane,
I have a list of departed classmates that I would like to sort in alphabetical order using the maiden names and the men's last names.  The maiden name is in the field SchNm abbreviated "School Name".  Their current last name is LastName.
In the report I want to sort the names alphabetically using the SchNm for the married women, and LastNm for the men.  I tried this by duplicating men's last name in the SchNm field, and sorted by SchNm but then in the report the men had the three names like the women did.  Did not work well.

In the report I want the women to be FirstNm SchNm LastNm.  For the men FirstNm LastNm.
Thanks for your help.

Russ

What fields do you want to display in the report?"
