I very much agree.
Just as a golfer does not carry just one golf club to use for all situations; they carry a whole set of clubs for various situations and choose the most appropriate for the given situation.
You should use your general knowledge and PM skills to choose the best tool for the job. Some of this is only gained through experience, your own or shared.

One caution is that developing is not just about being a good "coder". You also need project management skills. It starts with analyzing needs and continues through managing scope. There is a a lot more to consider. I wish I had some recommendations but can only suggest you google this. Hopefully someone here has some good recommendations.
