Re: [MS_AccessPros] Display Excel sheet on Access form

hi,

agree with Duane that a better way to go is linking to the sheet, which can be refreshed to update, and then making the chart(s) with Access. Here is a video to show you how to do that:

How To Make a Graph with Microsoft Access (cc). 7-minute video.

Bill said, "You can embed an excel sheet using an OLE control that is linked to the spreadsheet. Its not the usual way to display a spreadsheet. You might want to just put a button with an event to follow a hyperlink to the sheet on the form to open the spreadsheet outside of Access."

That is also another option -- but making your own chart in Access using data you are linked to would be my choice.

Access cannot know when the sheet changes in Excel -- it could look at the file date/time and compare it to see if it needs to be updated though. A good way to trigger this is to add a "Refresh" button that the user can click on to update. Alternately, you could use a timer event that automatically updates, but I try to avoid using forms with timers.

have an awesome day,

As an alternative, you can link to an Excel worksheet and then display a datasheet view of the worksheet on an Access form. You can also duplicate some Excel charts in Access.

I need to display Excel sheet with one table and one chart on Access form. Is it possible to have preview of excel sheet on access form which will automatically update when excel sheet is update?
