Thanks for your reply / nudge in the right direction.  It's funny that after you write down a problem and ask for help your mind keeps churning the problem overnight and you wake up with an idea.  I thought of having 2 recordsets one for the rows in a table that shows the details of the campaign and one that's based on a query of possible editions for a magazine.  I'd walk through the table recordset using movenext and for each entry go to the query recordset to find the first matching edition and walk through that one creating entries in the booking table.

Your solution is so elegant and it's made me realise that I should be creating more sub routines to handle the data manipulation.  It makes the code in the body of the form simpler to follow - and easier to debug later.

Thanks for your help, I'm sure i can move forward with this.
