I have two tables: Patrons and Registered Voters. If I am given a new name to record, "John Smith", I need to make sure I don't already have him set up in Patrons. If not, I want to see if he is a registered voter so I can capture his ID.
I want to generate a query where all records with the last name "Smith" on both tables.
- If I have already set up a patron record for John Smith, I want to add comments to that record
- If I have not set up a patron record, I want to capture the Voter ID so I can link the two records.
- John Smith may not be in either table.
So, another way of saying this is that I want to show all matching records and then any unmatched records in either table.
As usual, if there is a better way of doing this, I would appreciate it.
