You're close, really close. The problem is you may get section Format fired, then section Retreat when the report engine decides that the "next" detail line won't fit on either the page or within the current group. The Format fires again when the section is finally formatted ready to print. Try adding this:

Private Sub Detail_Retreat()

txtNo = txtNo - 1

The detail section has variable data.

I tried to add the code in detail section_format:
txtNo=TxtNo+1

and in Page header format:
txtNo=0

This outputs a report with several missing numbers especially when there is a group header on the page.

Hello All
I need to create report where each row in details section must have a serial row number.
I can do this by creating a textbox with control source =1 and assigning Running Sum over "group" or "over all".
The catch is that I want to create a running serial number that starts with 1 on each page of the report.
Any suggestions?
