Will this allow for PDFs? In other areas of my application I need to attach legal documents and such.

Art, you can use an Image control. Assign the field with the path and filename as the ControlSource and the pictures will render, even on a continuous forms :)

My free contact management template has a feature that you can get to by clicking the red pushpin on yellow background icon that opens a form :

1. browse for a file
2. copies the chosen file to an Attachments directory below the database and links it
3. If the file is a JPG or PNG, the image will be rendered when you choose pictures (you can change the code to render more image formats)

Since, in this case, the (relative) path is always the same, just the filename is stored and the path is added when needed

I have issues with TIFF files for some reason, prefer working with PNG files as most of my images are for document control, PDF files can be a pain.

When opening an image I first make a copy and then open the copy. This was done in that I would open an image and then try to have my system move or save the file so having a copy open just made it easier. I also created an export folder where images/files are copied when they need to be accessed for emailing to clients. One folder to look in with only a few files to find the images rather than having to look through working directories with thousands of files.

For a naming convention I used the date and the image number within the database, ie. 20150728 000958

1) Attach Word or Excel files

Here is my scenario. I have a form called frm_UnitDetails which contains summary information for a house. The frontend is a Access 2013 application and the backend is SQL Server. I need to be able to display pictures of front, rear, left side, right side, yardage on the form. From what I have researched it is best to just to keep the path for the picture in the table reach points to each storage location. How would I achieve this?

I will also need to keep a multiple pictures from inspection on a tab control on this form. Do you know any examples or advice on how I can get this done?
