Cool! I was perplexed too.

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] Re: Field Too Small Error
Found the problem. I put a default value on a control that didn't work. Took it out and the problem is gone.

Hello friends,
Yesterday I made a minor revision to a data entry form. I added a new control to populate a new field I added to the record source table. Now when I go to enter data in the first character in the first control which is a unit number, I get an error message that says "The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add." When I click OK, the error goes away and the character I typed is in the control and it will let me finish entering the rest of the unit number and will add the record with no problem. Then when I enter the first character of the next unit number, the erro! r pops up again. I'm stumped on this one unless there is form corruption. I didn't change anything related to this control. Anyone have any ideas how to troubleshoot this?
