Thanks, John. A traceRT on the tcp server I believe my database is on brought up an IP address of 168.63.160.75, which came up with two possible Microsoft-owned options: one in Singapore and another in Wichita, Kansas.
I only tested one of the many server choice on speedtest.net for Singapore, but my speeds are 15.52 Mps download and 10.24 Mps upload. There were two server choices for Wichita. My speeds are 7.68 Mps download and 4.30 upload on one and 15.06 Mps download and 7.47 upload on the other. Not being an expert, it doesn't seem like that would be sufficient explanation for the slow speed. I very likely could be wrong, though.
