Yes, I have also chosen that approach now. However there is one risk in it.
If you use an append query, there is the risk of running it more than once and you will end up with doubles in your table. So it requires a little more programming to avoid that risk.
About the speed; I could not see the difference, but the table was not that big.
So I accept your observation and will keep it in mind .
