Re: [MS_AccessPros] RE: How do I move linked files without breaking the link?

Hi,

I usually do VBA code on startup to re-link the Tables, you can follow this example mentioned in following website:

http://blogs.office.com/b/microsoft-access/archive/2012/08/03/how-to-automatically-relink-microsoft-access-tables-.aspx

It is actually for Ms.Access tables from another Ms.Access database, but you get the general idea about how to put it to work. Code at startup will initiate the Re-Link process, so the Ms.Access application will always ensure linking properly, no matter where you put both files.

Ahmed

Hi Steven,

The answer is that you can't..

Just move both files then remake the link in the database so that it

points to the new location of the spreadsheet..

Hope that helps.

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes...

I have an Access accdb file containing macros. It links to an Excel spreadsheet. How do I move both files? When I try, the link doesn't work.
