RE: RE: RE: RE: [MS_AccessPros] Controlling the format of a memo field

Tim-

Those options don't matter.  The Behavior Entering Field setting in Options simply controls what happens to the cursor when the user tabs or clicks into the field.  Depending on your environment, users can set these to their liking.  I personally use Go To End of Field.

The property that matters is the Enter Key Behavior property of the text box control on your form.  That should be set to New Line in Field.

Hi Bill and John,

So it is not the Plain Text or Rich Text issue that I thought. I went into Options, Client Settings and saw "Behavior entering field" selected as "Select entire field." Should I check off one of the other two, "Go to start of field" or "Go to end of field"?

Thanks to both of you!

Tim

It could be that Tim's original text box did not have the  Enter Key Behavior property set to New line.

I tried Shift-Enter in a Rich Text field in the Northwind sample in 2007, and it worked just fine.

Thanks for your advice, John!

I tried Shift Enter but it didn't work in the beginning. I then changed the format from Rich Text to Plain Text, and it worked in Plain Text.  Should changing from Rich Text to Plain make a difference? It works now in Plain Text, but I don't understand why.

Thanks again for your help!

Hold down the Shift key and press the Enter key when you finish typing a line.

Hi, would any of you please advise if if this is possible in a memo field?

I created a memo field on a form to record notes. The notes have several items as:

1. xxxx

2.yyyy

3.zzzz

However, in my report for print out, all of the 1,2,and 3 are concatenated and become:

1. xxxx2.yyyy3.zzzz

Is there a way to keep the 1,2, and 3 separated as different lines?

Thanks so much!

Tim
