Office has become so integrated that mixing versions is a mistake. In fact, 2013 is so integrated I doubt you can use a different version of any of the products. It used to work fine, but now you will have nothing but headaches. Most of my apps are still in 2003 even though our company is now pushing out Office 2010. I had to re-write all my email automation code even though I used late binding. Access 2003 files can't email through 2010 unless you use something like vbMAPI from everythingaccess.com (great product and support by the way).
If you have a need to use a version of Access different from the rest of your suite, run it on a virtual or second machine.
