RE: [MS_AccessPros] Calendar Control

Thanks Duane, John and Jim!

I agree about the "date picker" being a silly alternative. I'm sure there's a reason behind it, probably a legal thing. I thought one of the first rules of application development was to keep the user in mind, not necessarily the programmer's. My users need a large calendar display.

ActiveX (as with any external module/class) helps reduce the overall size of the project. An additional form with an additional table with additional code to me is another forced step backwards…maybe that's what people mean by "backwards compatibility".

But as long as I still have the ability to include my own activeX controls my apps should be safe (I hope, I hope)

I managed to locate the source of the issue. I have an application (3rd party) for use with our security camera's. It uses an older MSCAL and set my Access reference to its OCX instead of the proper one for 2007. After I re-established the reference everything was back-to-normal.

Thanks again! This group is awesome.

Dave

Before 2010 I used the calendar control on a form for reference. I wanted to visually just glance at the calendar. I was not using it to enter a date. A text box with a calendar to click seems kind of silly for my situation. But I have complied with the lack of the calendar.

Dave-

AFAIK, the Calendar OCX was "deprecated" in 2007 and isn't supported anymore in
2010. MSFT expects you to use the new Date Picker that shows up when you set
the Show Date Picker property to For Dates. That causes a little calendar
button to appear next to a control containing a date when that control has the
focus.

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] Calendar Control

Greetings Folks,

I am running vista ultimate sp2 with 2007. Periodically my calendar
controls seem to be corrupted. The calendar will be visible but no dates are
and nothing is selectable. Other controls on the form are fine.

I can delete the control and replace them but it's really a pain and
anti-productive.

Has anyone heard of a similar issue and/or offer a solution?

The ActiveX controls class = MSCAL.Calendar.7

Thanks,

Dave
