Re: [MS_AccessPros] Command or action pasteappend error

Bill,

Someone in IT suggested that the user's clipboard is not saving the copy. How would I check for any settings that might have turned off his clipboard?

I don't know what to tell you. Check the user's permissions on all folders involved. See if the DB is open read-only. Watch what the user does to get that error.

Bill

Using a remote will let you run his computer like you were sitting at his desk. I find it invaluable.

Bill,

We are on the same network, in fact we are several cubes away from each other in both directions. He is just always so busy.

Jim

Good luck with that. Users seldom are able to get you that kind of information. Are you on the same network as your users? If so, I strongly recommend you use something like Remote desktop (Windows\System32\mstsc.exe) or DameWare Mini Remote to remote to the desktop and get it yourself.

MS Remote desktop requires you to log in on the user's machine so you can't really see what they see.

I love DameWare Mini Remote because the user can see what you are doing and can be more specific as to what they do to get the error. But it ain't free. Maybe your network or desktop support already has some kind of remote tool they use and would let you install it. It's saved me days of frustration by being able to get on someone's computer without having to trek all the way over to their desk only to find out they got called away.

Bill

Bill,

I am trying to get the user to come back to his desk to check out the version number.
