Re: [MS_AccessPros] Associate a image to command button

hi Art,

thank you. I hope you like MyContacts -- tried to keep the code easy. I started again with a beginner in mind and spent a few months on it -- can't say "re-built" since all I started with were the tables, which were modified. Then everything was made again from scratch. The forms have good searching options. It also does some cool stuff like swap subforms so the user can see more detail or more rows. The VBA has liberal comments so if you spend time to see how to do it, you will.

All the queries it needs are prefaced with "qCalc", which I plan to change to "qSys" and don't know why I didn't do that to begin with! I used to use "usys" in front of the  query names that the system needed but beginners were having trouble finding them.

Images cannot take the focus, so this prevents them from being able to be triggered like a command button. You can, however, put a command button on top of the image and set the Transparent property so it doesn't show.

Why does the user need to change the size? If you just want a way to see it bigger, you can make a popup form that loads whatever file is specified in OpenArgs (or a database property or another way) into an image control -- that gets triggered, for instance, on the click event of a (transparent) command button.

What kind of images are these and what is being done with them? Are they external files?

The PICTURE property of the command button does not allow for the manipulation of the size of the picture or other properties that an image object gives you.

Your new Contacts looks great. I can't wait to go through it.

hi Art,

command buttons have a PICTURE property for an image.

btw, I uploaded another version of MyContacts today -- enhanced the list functionality. This version is a lot more simple than the other one.

Is there a way to associate and image object to a command button? I was able to do it with a label control. What I am doing is I have created a command button and overlaid it with a label and an image. The label works but the image acts like its being covered up by the command button. I am doing this to customize the look of the command button.

Any ideas?

Thank you
