Re: [MS_AccessPros] Current reference books?

Thanks John. So if I am _not_ targeting the web, would I be better off with the 2010 or the 2013 Inside Out? I saw some comments that 2013 was more web-focused.

Microsoft Press was disbanded in 2016, so there will be no more "Inside Out" books.  Jeff Conrad's 2013 book or our 2010 book will give you the basics, but neither covers the full migration of Access to the web under Office 365.

Hi,

I've got a pretty good VB6 / ADO / MS-SQL background but am about to embark on an Access 2016 project for the first time. It will be a local DB project, possibly with a SQL back end, but no web UI. I'm looking for one or two good reference books geared towards programmers.

I found the recommendations here http://www.thatlldoit.com/Pages/booklinks.aspx. Any updates since 2010? I see that Jeff Conrad updated "Inside Out" for 2013, though it's apparently out of print. Has very much changed since 2013?

The 9-in-1 Access 2013 for Dummies looks like it covers most of the topics I would want but I'm afraid it may be too simple.

Thanks,
