[MS_AccessPros] RE: filtering datasheet form

Hi Duane, yes, but we have noticed some inconsistency.  That is the filtering asks for specific input instead of a selection if a previous filter has been selected.  For example, if one wants to select by work order, they can pick that work order, and then if they want to select a stock type or something, rather than providing which options to select by tic marks, it gives a prompt “text filters” with an arrow and you have to actually type something in.  My colleague doesn’t believe the user base would be happy with something like that.

However, since then, the requirements have changed and rather than do the specific filtering, they want to provide me with scenarios in which each scenario produces a set of prescribed filters.  So now this isn’t even an issue any more.

Hi Liz,

Are you looking for the same functionality as Excel data filtering? If so, that is standard functionality with Access datasheet view.

Regards,

Duane

Pros, Have you experienced when you use the managed code filter on a data sheet and then can’t on subsequent fields?

I need to allow easy filtering of a form in datasheet view.

My proposed solution is to have a set of combo boxes at the bop that are populated by the filter options and perform the filtering with the after update event of the controls and base the drop down values with what is available by what is left by the existing filter.

Can you think of anything better?
