Re: [MS_AccessPros] Update Query not performing as expected

Jan-

It looks like that should work unless IDENTIFICATION_NUMBER contains something you don't expect.  Switch to SQL view in your query and post the text you see - that's much more precise than trying to visualize what you see on the query design grid.

I am creating an update query comparing four fields on two tables. When I have a match, I want to update a fifth field in the receiving table with an Identification number from the primary table. It appears to be matching properly but the identification number field in the receiving field is being populated by the last name data from the sending field.

My joins are as follows:

Registered_Voter_Table                     Patrons_Table

Last Name                                            Last Name

First Name                                            First Name

House Number                                     House Number

Street Name                                         Street Name

My update command is

Field: IDENTIFICATION_NUMBER

Table: PATRONS_TABLE

Update to: [REGISTERED_VOTER_TABLE].[IDENTIFICATION_NUMBER]

Criteria: Blank

What am I doing wrong?  Thanks
