Re: [MS_AccessPros] error: error occurred while opening [form] do you want to continue to load the project

Elizabeth-

Can you open the database in 2010?  If so, you can go to the group website and download my FixBroken.zip file from Files / 0_Utilities and Add-ins.  Import the one form in that database into your database opened in 2010 and run the procedures to export everything and fix it up.  Then import my form into a new database in 2003 (it should work although I've only tested it in 2007) and follow the procedures to import the "fixed" objects.

The problem is 2010 adds some control types that aren't recognized by 2007 and earlier.  They added these "hidden" controls in 2010 to make Layouts work better, but then you'll never be able to open them in an earlier version.  My code strips out these new controls (and does some other cleanup related to Name AutoCorrupt) and outputs text files that can then be imported into an earlier version.

Good luck!

Elizabeth,

I realize the horse has fled for now but during development, back up of the frontend is particularly important. I back up the frontend every time I open it to make changes. That's the first thing I do as soon as the file opens. If I am doing something particularly important I will back up the frontend several times in the course of a development day.

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] error: error occurred while opening [form] do you want to continue to load the project

Hi,
My vba is corrupted but I can't decompile because the error message:
"error occurred while opening [form] do you want to continue to load the project?" will not go away if I hit yes, no, or cancel.  This error message even shows up if I open a new database and try to import via File-Get External Data.  I am in Access 2003 (and I corrupted it trying to open it in Access 2010).  I can use a back up copy of my front end but I don't backup my front end as much as my back end so I would lose a couple of things I've created lately.
Any help you could provide would be very appreciated!!!!
Thanks,
Elizabeth
