In your report, put this in the Control Source of the text box to display the number:

=IIf([Number] >= 1000, Null, [Number])

… where [Number] is the name of your field.

Is the any way that I can apply a rule that numbers above 1000 do not
appear in print? I need them to still be in the record so that they
sort at the end of a numerical sort.
