I have 2 comparable tables (in terms of number of  fields &  data type). The Access BE one has 60k records & is pretty much instant to open it & skip down to the last record. The one in sql-server is only 30k records and is taking 30 seconds to skip to the last record. Before Monday it too was pretty much instant. 
I've got 25 nurses who would usually be answering help line calls to disabled children's parents, sitting around unable to work or back using pen & paper. Unfortunately this may well be the final nail in the coffin for Access as far as this company is concerned :-(.
