[MS_AccessPros] New Servers Are Slowers

Hello all,

Many years ago I created "Updater1" (a tool/form) that updates a large number of records.

It takes 1 minute and 25 seconds to complete its processes.

It can of course be optimized but I never had time to do it.

In attempts to improve overall speed of the application, we recently upgraded hardware/software.

OLD

===

Front End MS Access Office 2003 with SP3 (32bit)

Back End MS SQL 2012

Windows 2008 R2 (64bit)

Intel Zeon E345 @233Ghz (2 processors) with 32Gb RAM

Tables linked using this connection string

"DRIVER=SQL Server;SERVER=MyServer;Trusted_Connection=Yes;APP=Microsoft Office 2003;WSID=RDP1;DATABASE=MyDB;Network=DBMSSOCN"

NEW

===

Front End MS Access Office 2003 with SP3 (32bit)

-ALSO- tried Front End MS Access Office 2013 (64bit) by creating an ACCDE file

"Updater1" takes 2 Minutes 10 Seconds to complete its processes - 50 seconds slower.

Back End MS SQL 2012

Windows 2012 R2 (64bit)

Intel Zeon E7 4860 @2.27Ghz  with 50Gb RAM

Tables linked using this connection string

"ODBC;DRIVER=SQL Server;SERVER=Server_IP_Address,1466;Trusted_Connection=Yes;APP=Microsoft Office 2013;WSID=MyPC;DATABASE=MyDB;Network=DBMSSOCN"

Users connect to SERVERS using Windows Remote Desktop Services i.e. "MSTSC.EXE"

Any ideas how to improve performance/speed.

#1 is to make it at least the same as the old servers.

#2 is to make it reasonably faster than the old servers. << Ideal situation.

Thanks.
