Followup: We’ll be doing this a different way.
Apparently I was trying to run MS SQL on a DB2 server. Corporate IT wants us to run queries on that MS SQL server but we were migrating our JDE to E1 and that got cancelled because Rockwell Collins bought us and they use SAP. Meanwhile, we have other needs like a unique way to try to do MRP and still need access to real data, and not a copy. So, corporate now has the pressure to give us something that we can use to query real time data on a server they feel comfortable with us using.

I don’t know how I would do this because our Access is within a Citrix Environment.

Liz - Open Access as an Administrator. Right-click the Access icon to get that choice. Then build your DSN file. See if that makes a difference.
Also, you can open a DSN in NotePad and see if it needs editing.

And I failed… I was able to pull one field down and once the query got more complicated, I got the same error messages.

Hold it. I knew after hours of sweat and then finally posting here I would get it.
I think I’m on something. I was looking at a table that simply is NOT on that particular server.
HEE HEE!

Pros, I have been successful running numerous queries with a certain sql server and its respective connection string.
However, ! I need to point to a different server, and have odbc table links to it. When I click on the ellipsis in the connection string property field, and the wizard prompts me though the dsn to select the server, it does build a connection string and asks me to save the credentials, and to test it for this time, I do.
Then I try to run it, and it still prompts me for a user/pass and then gives me an ODBZC – call failed. Bla db2 for i5/os sql0104 – token ; was not valid valid tokens <end-of-statement> but there isn’t even a semi colon at the end of the connection string anyway.
Ideas?
Respectfully,
