Re: [MS_AccessPros] Using Bar Codes in Access

John,
Another question about your inventory database. I had asked earlier about it but did not understand the answer. Your original Inventory was writeenin 2003 or earlier I am guessing. I have only 2013. I opened your inventory and it automatiaclly converted to 2013 but what happen to your custom toolbars and menus. I know ytou have them can I can see there properties set on some of the forms. Is there away I can bring them forward or view them in my version.

John,

I hate it when forms and reports just disappear... I have been there... Thank you.

Art-

I even dug out the original CD from the book and installed that - and those reports are missing there, too!  They must have existed at one point nigh these 12+ years ago, but I don't have them anywhere now.

Sorry.

I have no clue why that's missing.  That particular report is opened from only one form in the database.  Strangely, I can't find that report in any of the old copies of the Inventory database that I have.

Yes, add a button and add:

     If Not Me.NewRecord Then
         ' Select the record
         RunCommand acCmdSelectRecord
         ' Delete it
         RunCommand acCmdDeleteRecord
    End If

There should be no missing forms.  What are you missing?

Note that all forms that edit major records have a record selector bar.  Click the bar and then press Del to delete the record.

When you run the old Inventory app in 2007 or later, the custom menus and toolbars show up on the Add-Ins tab.  That tab appears only when a custom menu or toolbar is active - for example, when you open one of the main data edit forms like frmCustomers.

Ideally, those should all be converted to custom Ribbons.  See the Contacts app in the 2007 and 2010 books for an example of how that's done.

In your Inventory System you are using Custom Report Toolbars and a Custom Print Menu. Can you carry those forward to Access 2013 or where are they defined in your application?
