I have a chapter in my Access Basics book on SQL that covers the basics of Append and Update queries if you (or someone reading this) need to know how to create and run them

even though you can open those system tables, the only way to change data in them is with SQL (queries).  Do be careful when you make changes.  and, of course, backup your database first ;)
