Dear friends,

Thanks for your help. The key issue was that you should open the form.
I do that in hidden modus and can get the information I need now.
An answer to the "why"question from Duane, (see below):
I inherited a number of databases on which I need to proceed, but I do not kbnow about the history.
So I need a tool to have a quick scan of the contents.
That is also the reason why I can not rely on a strict naming system for underlying queries,
like Bill suggested. But, as I said the tool is now functioning as I like.

I can't imagine what the significance of the number of records in forms.

I believe you would need to open the form in order to get the recordsource property value. You should be able to open hidden, get the recordsource and then close.

Again, why would you want to do this?
