Re: [MSAccessProfessionals] ReLink procedures

Duane,

Yes, I wish it was a biking vacation. It would be much more fun than Zwift.

I use the database for reference.  I don't edit the date because it doesn't save on the master copy.  I wish I could but ….

Yes, other people use the database while I am gone.

I would like to be able to set up that I can remote into.   I have Windows 11 professional so I think it is possible, but I do not know how.

When I open the front end and go to the linked table manager I see the data source name and data source information pointing to the location of the original back end.

What next?  Do I relink or Add.   When I add, I get duplicate tables.  I just tried to relink and it is going through the tables one at a time.

Any tips on setting up Remote PC.

 Bill,

Simple, don't take work on vacation! Take your bike.

Do you edit data in the back-end? Does anyone else edit data while you are on vacation? Have you considered having a PC set up at work that you can remote into? If you simply make changes to the front-end, you should be able to use the linked table manager to connect to the work back-end.

Periodically I take a copy of my front end and back end and put them on a laptop computer so I can take my work with me on vacation.

I continue to struggle with the proper procedure to re-link the two data bases on the new computer.  I seem to end up with duplicate tables every time and have to go through and delete and rename.
