Re: [MS_AccessPros] Offsite Data Entry: MS Access

Duane -
This is what I am leaning towards... create an excel form with call notes, and forward to the job site tech.  Tech updates form, and then when at the office, use the Western Digital MyCloud to sinc the files, from which the office staff can load the data...

On of the issues is that Tech's should not have access to all the data... for security reasons,
And sending an excel file is relativity small.  Worst case scenario is to stop by McDonalds or Starbucks on the way to a job site to download emails.

Take care,

Mike

I would consider using Excel and data queries, DAO, or ADO recordsets to pull data into sheets and then pushing data back into the database. I currently do this regularly allowing users to
1) open an Excel file,
2) make some type of filter selection,
3) download data,
4) update the data,
5) click a button to upload

The file could be emailed to someone between steps 3 and 4. The completed file could then be emailed back for step 5.

Duane

I would like to see the responses to your question. I have a similar issue at our Housing Authority and creating and tracking work orders.

At the office I have my database with all my business info...

What I would like to be able to do is Create a form in Access and Email it to the service tech.  The Service Tech could update the form as per job requirements.  And then later email the completed form back to the office.  So that the updated fields can be loaded into the Office Database...

How can I approach this? Any thoughts?

Thanks Mike the Plumber
