1. Koneksi ODBC nya menggunakan ODBC Driver utk MySQL, bisa download di sini: https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/
Syaratnya, MySQL server nya harus boleh anda akses secara langsung dari "luar" (artinya tidak hanya dari dalam domain hosting anda).
Untuk mendapat permission ini, minta ke hosting provider nya. Setahu saya ada syarat paket hosting yg diambil agar boleh akses database secara langsung.
2. Kalau disebut turun "drastis" berarti harus membandingkan dg kecepatan sebelumnya. Tetapi tergantung koneksi dari kompu anda ke servernya. Kalau di sisi server bandwidth nya tentu besar dan stabil. Kalau di sisi anda juga broadband dan cukup stabil, tetap bisa dipakai. Jika anda membandingkan dengan akses ke local computer, ya jelas akan terasa lebih lambat. Anyway, solusi ini masih bisa dipakai (FE Access - BE MySQL over Internet).
3. FE Access - BE SQL Server, server sendiri, koneksi inet cepat. Pastinya ini idaman :)

Master, saya pakai back end mysql dg koneksi odbc. Nhah, saya dituntut untuk menyambungkan front-end melalui jaringan internet, pertanyaannya :
1. Bagaimana cara menyambungkab odbc mysql melalui internet
2. Apakah kecepatan akses database akan turun drastis jika point 2 terpenuhi?
