One big drawback with Access is that you cannot write code to run in the very database you want to back up. So you cannot backup the FE from within it. You will have to either rely on a third-party software like Karenware Replicator (in our Files>0_Utilities_Addins>ptreplicator) or a custom script run via the task scheduler. I vote for Karen's software. It's free and very easy to set up.
Your BE should be backed up by your IT department's nightly backup. If you need more control, use the SSMA (SQL Server migration Assistant) for Access to convert the BE to a SQL Server database. That way you can set up a backup schedule. The most common is a weekly full, daily differential and hourly log backup.

Bill

The local tables, capture login, connection, errorslogs for that client. We have 12 clients that will be installed and each will have its own set of tables. We do have daily server backups and I suppose that will suffice.'

hi Art,
If this is a front-end/back-end, then what local tables would need to be backed up? What kind of local data would there be?
"access database on the server "
does the company not backup what is on the servers already?
have an awesome day,

Is there away that I backup both local table and linked tables at the same time? I have my main database that has it primary tables in a linked access database on the server and then I have local tables that track local data.
I am trying to set it up so I can back them all up at once probably through VBA,
Thank you ,
