Re: [MS_AccessPros] Track changes in database

Celeste-

First, you have to have the database set up so that users can change / delete / add data only through a form you designed.  You can then use events in the form to write to a hidden log table what has changed and by whom.  One technique designers often use with sensitive data is to never allow a record be deleted.  When a user wants to delete a record, flag it as deleted but leave it in the table.  Set up your forms to not show records flagged in this way so the user gets the impression that they are gone.

I have an Access database currently with about 12000 records.  Each record has 30 fields.  There are 12 users.  Recently a few records were erased (not an Access error).

What would be the best way to track the changes or create an audit trail to this determine the chanes to the database?

Thank you for your help.
