No check boxes or multiple drop-downs. Edit Students on the outer form and StudentClasses on the subform. Provide a combo box to pick the course in the subform. Students pick one course at a time. In the Before Insert event of the subform, check to see if the student has already picked 6, and disallow any further choices.

Thanks for your reply, John!
do should I set up the form so that the student can select 6 or 7 courses from the available courses offered? On the form, should I have the student put in the name and I would have say 10 drop downs so that each student can select whatever courses he or she wants? Or should I have check boxes?
Much appreciations!
Tim
