RE: [MS_AccessPros] Reading the Window Explorer Directory

Hello Mark

Nice to see you joining in :-)

What you want is not to read information from Windows Explorer per se, but
to read the ID3 tags from the files. These are different from the file
attributes (system, read-only, etc) that are characteristics of every file.
Instead they are data stored in a special block which is part of the file
itself.

You will find an article here that should be of great assistance:
http://www.vbaccelerator.com/article.asp?id=3490

The sample program is VB6, but even if you don't have VB6 you can import the
two class modules (cMP3ID3v1.cls and cMP3ID3v2.cls) into your Access VBA
project. You can also open the VB form file (frmTestMp3Tags.frm) in notepad
and see how the class modules are used in the procedures ShowMp3Tags and
SetTags.

Good luck!

Graham
