What is the actual data type you see in your tables in SQL Server Management Studio?  I suspect they are actually datetime2, but if you're looking at the data type via Access linked tables, that will map to Text.

Following up on my question, I looked into SSMA under the Tye Mapping and see that my date format is supposed to be converted into datetime2(0). But somehow, this is not happening.
