Re: [MS_AccessPros] Desktop Access vs. Web-Based Access

Thanks!   If it turns out too costly, I might have to look at a Linux server solution...      Jerry

You can't do it on Apache - you need a Windows server and Sharepoint.

Thanks John, I'll take a stab at creating as a web-based Access database from the beginning.  I guess I can use Apache home server for that, or do I also need SharePoint on my home server?  Currently, I pay a monthly fee to Microsoft for complete use of Microsoft Office, including Access, but I'm not keen on a costly install for SharePoint services.  I'm not ready to put it out on the web until it is designed and running smooth on my home server.  I guess I can start checking with my host web provider for options.    Thanks,  Jerry Boor, Michigan - USA

PS--I'm currently going through Microsoft Access 2013 Inside Out...

It's better if it is designed as a Web database to begin with.

Can someone tell me if I need to do anything differently when creating
an Access database initially where the intention is to eventually use it
on the World Wide Web? Can I simply design it, as if it were only
going to be on the desktop, and later on port it over for use on the
Internet through a SharePoint server? Or, does it have to be designed
as a web-based database from the very beginning? Thanks, Jerry Boor,
