Allow the users to VPN to a shared drive, then host the back end on the shared server, and have them instill front ends on their local machine that map to the back end once connected via vpn.

I tried it several years back with no success.Ms access is a self contained file.

Your best bet is to get a Linux cloud server (cheap running costs), install MySQL or other free database and connect remotely.

There's a checkbox you can check while linking the tables that saves the password.

If you want to go DSNless, there are several methods.  I adapted this:

Re: [MSAccessProfessionals] Can Grow field - Keeping all fields the same height

I dont understand where I need to draw the invisible lines,

Re: [MSAccessProfessionals] Can Grow field - Keeping all fields the same height

Hi Frank,
My solution is to use the line method in the On Print event of the section of the report. Here is a link to my answer in another forum https://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1725559

I have the borders of each field set to solid so it looks like a table.

So when the first field grows say to a double line, how can I also get the remaining field in the record to grow the same amount?

Re: [MSAccessProfessionals] Main form with 2 subforms dissapear when in Form View #name

It's good to hear you got this working.

When you reply, please include the significant information from the previous posts in the thread so us old guys don't have to tax our failing memory.

[Edited Message Follows]

Thanks for the quick reply.

I don't see any settings as hidden.
I do have vertical scroll bars.
I have records in all 3 tables.

My customer MASTER "autonumber" is linked  to Instruments CHILD "link to address" field
My Instruments MASTER "Autonumber" is linked to Tests CHILD "linked to instruments" field

I know the TEST table is ugly, it was a microsoft works database that I brought into Access that I'm trying to get some reports to print.

Also when I delete the instrument subform from my Customers form, and view just the customers form in form view, it is also vanished

Re: [MSAccessProfessionals] Main form with 2 subforms dissapear when in Form View #name

Hi Frank,
When a form "vanishes" (controls are hidden) it is usually the result of a read-only form that doesn't display existing records. It might also have scrolled off the top of your screen. Do you have vertical scrollbars? Do you have any records in any table? Are the record sources just the tables or are they multiple tables? What are you Link Master/Child properties of your subform controls?

BTW: your Test table structure is sorely lacking regarding normalization. Typically, each test result would create its own record in a table rather than repeating columns.

Regards,
Duane

I have new database with 3 tables and forms. I have attached some screenshots of my problem.

My main form (Customers) disappears when I try to view it in Form View.

When I look at my Instruments Form and its Subform Tests they show properly.

When I try to add the form Instruments as a subform to Customers, that's where my Customers form vanishes.

I did import all my databse items to a new database with no change.
