... and as a gripe... my company corporate IT provides no support for my professional development. I'm shadow. Then the minute someone gets to know me they think I can sit down and teach them access.
I've typically responded with the true but lengthy answer in that I need to learn a lot more in other areas and that I'll help them when they get stuck (I suspect they want spoon feeding), and then I feel guilty about my response and aggravated. I've had the personal experience where I said "yes" to too many people and did things that a trained monkey could do while not improving my skills and my assistant got a promotion over me making 7k more... and that was decades ago...
So, I had to ask myself where I went wrong, and it was in saying "yes" to people who wanted me to do work for them just because I wanted to be amicable. It did me no favors and I won't do it again.
I've decided to say, I'll be happy to, but you'll have to meet me on Sunday mornings at my house at 6:00 AM. :-) That should deter them! As it is, any new professional development I do has to be on my own time on my own equipment and software, so my time is limited. Between a long commute and other activities, I simply do not have time to spoon feed people who think they can sit down with me to learn Access.
... I should point them towards Crystals youtube tutorials instead. ;-)

I hear you, Liz, that's what I want to do, too. I've got a couple ideas for mobile (Windows Phone, in this case) apps, but haven't had the time to pursue them yet.
