RE: [MS_AccessPros] Best way to learn advanced Access design

John

I've yet to see any Access training that goes into using VBA to any extent. I
dare say all of us have learned through books, forums and samples. There are a
few good samples at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access-help/sample-access-databases-that-you-c
an-download-and-adapt-HA001120138.aspx ,
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=9521

Another great place is Garry Robinson's site with all the old Smart Access
articles at http://www.vb123.com/index.html

But the best source for unique reports is A.D. Tejpal's pages at
http://www.rogersaccesslibrary.com/forum/tejpal-ad_forum45

Be sure to look at our Links folder. We've got well over a hundred links to
samples, tutorials and the like. But sometimes you just need to find somewhere
(like here) where you can get personal advice and knowledge.

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] Best way to learn advanced Access design

I moved into a position with just a few simple databases. Over the years as
people have seen the value of databases, I have had to create more and more
complex databases and now I'm up to managing 20 MS Access 2003 databases. My
users are getting more savvy and keep wanting detailed grouped reports that take
me a lot of time to design.

I read the messages in this group and it always seems like someone is doing
something cool with programming and advance techniques that I don't understand.
Also, this group has been a big help resolving issues.

So what I'm wanting to know, is what is the best way to learn complicated
techiniques (dare I say common sense techniques)? I have books that I'm reading
(shout out to John V for MS Office Access 2003). One of the issues is I can't
get my office to pay for training so I'm looking for training on my own.

Thanks,
John
