RE: [MS_AccessPros] Combo box in continous form, results on a separate table

Sally-

Consider adding a Form Header and put the combo there with Visible = False.
If the user clicks the Hold checkbox on, show the combo, and don't let them
save the record until they have chosen a reason. (Validate in Before Update
of the form.) In AfterUpdate, if Hold is True, then add a record to your
hold history table, clear the combo, and hide it.

Subject: [MS_AccessPros] Combo box in continous form, results on a separate
table

Hi All,

I try to find answers on this and other groups before posting a question but
this one has me stumped.

I have a filtered continuous form that is used to keep track of part
numbers and their status in the quotation process. Sometimes the status or
"gate" may be put on hold and I've been asked to track when and why.

I have checkbox for on hold/off hold working but I need to also have a combo
box with the reason code next to it on the main form. This part is working.
I have a separate table, the "Hold" table where I am keeping the part
number, gate and time it was put on or taken off hold. I was then asked to
add a combo box to track the reasons why they're put on hold. The question
is how do I get the results of the combo box to act independently on a
continuous form (unbound) and then how do I get the result of the combo box
to be input to the "Hold" table? Is this even possible to do?

I wanted to keep the "Hold" table separate as a log of the hold parts,
times, reasons, etc, because it would probably be easier to including these
in the aging reports.

Thank you,
