Been developing using MS Access since Access v2.0 and yes, it's my experience that IT doesn't support it or like it. Too bad ... the applications (when properly designed and maintained) are extremely effective when used for the right purposes. Small businesses and departments in a large company have come to reply on MS Access and it's amazing what it can do. A real timesaver! And I've never had an app become corrupt ... and most have been stored on a network with multiple users.
I agree with Bill ... split the database, even if you do not use SQL Server as your back end.
