What Glenn was telling you is Access saves everything automatically so a
check is not needed.
I had the opposite issue that things would get changed by mistake so I
check in the before update event and ask the operator to verify that
they want to save the changes using a message box. Before_Update does
not run unless there have been changes made to the current record.

Right, I'm trying to prevent them from navigating away without saving.
I just don't know where to put the dirty check to accomplish that.
