Clive,
I do not need to switch to Datasheet view, so I am not worried about switching views.
My 1st form is a continuous form. (not a form with a subform) I tried to do a Refresh on the Current property on the 1st form in hopes that when I returned from the 2nd form all of the record fields would update. Part of the record updates. The one field that does not update is a field that is linked via a Left Join. The field that is connected via a left join is to be left blank if there is no data or show a status if there is data. When the record is update on form 2 and I return to form 1, the record shows as updated but the status in the Left Join field does not update until I hit the Refresh All button in the Ribbon or open and close the record.
Thanks for your help... I am still stuck
Bill

Hi Bill,
You need to do the Refresh on the original form, not the
one you openend to make the changes.
Normally you would place a Button on the Header of a Form.
In DataSheet Mode the header is not visible, so if you
want to switch views then you would put the form details in
a SubForm so that the Header and the Button remain visible.
Then you will find that the records are updated correctly
without any code.
Another way of switching modes is to use the DoubleClick
Event of a FormField, but that needs some way of letting
the user know that it is available; a message on the
StatusBar or in the ControlTip Text.
Hope that helps.
Regards, Clive.

I have a button on each record of the continuous form that will open the details of that specific record in a 2nd form. On the 2nd form that opens I can modify the details of the record that was just opened. On close of the 2nd form the 1st form shows with some of the updated details showing but not all of them. If I go up to the ribbon and hit the "Refresh All" button the rest of the details show up. I tried to put in a macro on the "on Current" form property. It did not up date all the fields. I tried "requery" (I got an error about running 19 times). I tried refresh, refresh record. None of them worked. I could not find a "Refresh all" macro.

I believe it is a LEFT Join. The other fields in the 1st continuous form do update when I close the 2nd form.
